Job Summary
The School of Education at The University of Southern Mississippi
(USM) invites applicants for a one-year, full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant
Professor position beginning in August 2025 with requirements to be physically
present on the Hattiesburg and/or Gulf Coast campuses. The faculty currently
provide training primarily for working with students with high incidence
disabilities. We are especially interested in candidates whose experience
includes bridging research and practice in Special Education as well as in P-12
elementary education, literacy and/or mathematics education. We aim to recruit
applicants with a background in Special Education who can contribute to the
Special Education Master’s program but also to the school’s Elementary
Education Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. Program delivery includes
face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching and mentoring students.
- Supervising special education and/or elementary clinical experiences.
- Demonstrating an understanding of cultural competence.
- Contributing to the mission of the School and profession through service activities.
- Collaborating with colleagues on program development and enhancement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
