Job Purpose: Under the direction of the department manager or supervisor, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program
Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS, CMRT by the Texas Medical Board, ARRT registration in Radiology and CT, are required
Work Experience: 1 year of experience as radiology technologist and 6 months of experience in CT.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist.
- Participates in technical duties directly involved with the CT scanner including developing, initiating, and monitoring procedures for the effective utilization of this unit.
- Administers CT contrast according to the hospital policies and procedures.
- Review patient orders with the radiologist to ensure proper examination and diagnostic results are obtained
- Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
- Select correct protocol for patient exam
- Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients
- Maintains radiographic equipment and x-ray rooms in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.
- Maintains radiology supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
- Performs CT scan quality control procedures according to the hospital policies and state requirements.
- Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance
- Attends all required department-specific education and training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job‑related hazards
- Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions
- Wears proper identification while on duty
- Perform other duties as assigned
