What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at USMPC Buyer Inc?
SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Lubricates and cleans parts,
- Starts devices to test their performance.
- Set up and operates ladle, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- Setup and operates electric arc welder and cutting torch.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical equipment.
- Check and monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, tools and equipment and report to the Plant manager any supplies that need to be ordered.
- Assist with creating and maintaining cost savings initiatives.
- Assist with environmental compliance requirements.
- Participate in all safety programs and assist with maintaining and clean and safe work environment.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Aside from standard Maintenance Technician duties and responsibilities, the Maintenance Technician will be assigned some or all of the following:
- Set up the parts inventory section, mark and maintain all storage locations and enter parts into maintenance software.
- Daily enter all parts used and received into maintenance software.
- Sets up and prep all parts for projects to be performed.
- Helps set inventory levels required to make sure we have the right part when needed.
- Oversees assigned projects from start to finish, working together with the Plant Manager on scheduling manpower needed to complete tasks
- Works with all maintenance down days.
- Gets involved in discussions with vendors so he understands the current general trends in the industry.
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed to support the plant operations.
EXPERIENCE:
Required to complete the following training in the following courses to obtain a Certificate as a Class A Maintenance Mechanic or have had the equivalent to the following courses from an accredited college or technical school: Courses: Basic Print Reading, Basic Electricity, Motors and Motor Control, Applied Mathematics and Electro-Mechanical Controls.
KNOWLEDGE:
HS Diploma or equivalent
SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Troubleshooting
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Ability to read basic mechanical drawings
