Certified Surgical Tech at Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Garland:
· Assists in providing individualized direct patient care in accordance with site policies and guidelines under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the OR area.
· The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team.
· Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to these procedures.
· Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center.
· Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.
· Experienced in the following specialties: ENT, General Surgery (Bariatrics), GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology.
Qualifications
Education:
- Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program
· High school graduate or equivalent
Licensure/Certification:
- Certification in Surgical Technology required
- Current BLS
Required Experience:
· Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
· 2 years’ previous clinical experience in an Operating Room environment is preferred
· General knowledge of policies & procedures specific to the Operating Room
· Strong customer service skills
· Ability to work as a team player
· Must be have good manual dexterity & the ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
· Must be conscientious, self-motivated, organized and possess the ability to multi-task.
· Must stay abreast of new developments in your chosen field.
