Manager Perioperative Services at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas:
· The Manager of Perioperative Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the surgical services department, including the operating room (OR), sterile processing department (SPD), pre-anesthesia testing (PAT), pre-operative area, post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), and scheduling.
· This role ensures that surgical services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in accordance with regulatory standards.
· The manager will lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field;
· Master's degree preferred.
License:
· Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in TX.
· Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) preferred.
Required Experience:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in surgical services or perioperative management preferred; at least 2 years in a leadership role preferred.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
· Oversee the daily operations of the OR, SPD, PAT, pre-op, PACU, and scheduling.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and best practices in surgical services.
· Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency and patient safety.
· Provide cross coverage support when the Director is out of office.
Team Leadership:
· Manage and supervise staff, including surgeons, nurses, technicians, and administrative personnel.
· Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide guidance and support for professional development.
· Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes teamwork and high morale.
Patient Care:
· Ensure that high standards of patient care are maintained throughout the surgical process.
· Collaborate with clinical staff to develop and implement patient care protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
· Address patient and family concerns regarding surgical services and ensure a positive patient experience.
Financial Management:
· Assist in developing and managing the surgical services budget/productivity goals, ensuring cost-effective operations.
· Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and cost savings.
· Collaborate with procurement to ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available.
Scheduling and Resource Allocation:
· Oversee the scheduling of surgeries and procedures, ensuring optimal utilization of OR resources.
· Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to align schedules and availability.
· Manage staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage in all areas of surgical services.
Quality Improvement:
· Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing surgical outcomes and patient safety.
· Collect and analyze data related to surgical services performance and patient outcomes.
· Develop action plans based on quality metrics and feedback from staff and patients.
Training and Education:
· Facilitate ongoing education and training programs for staff to maintain competencies and stay updated on best practices.
· Collaborate with educational institutions to provide clinical training for nursing and surgical technology students.
