What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician- PRN position at USPI?
Job Summary: Under direction from the Clinical Director, the Sterile Processing Technician provides direct patient care by assisting patients and clinic staff with a variety of functions. This position will have a high focus on Central Sterile Processing and OR support, and will assist in Pre-Op and PACU as needed maintaining a clean and orderly patient care environment assisting nursing staff with appropriate patient care support. Under the direction of the Business Office Coordinator, will assist with preparing patient charts, reviewing and communicating schedule changes, scanning, and directing inbound calls. Consistently demonstrates the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.
- Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
- Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for accepted clinic practices and standards.
- Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in aseptic technique.
- Health screening by reviewing a brief questionnaire and taking temperature using a non-contact thermometers.
- Demonstrates ability to understand the unique needs of each age group of the patient populations.
- Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
- Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
- Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
- Informs Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.
- Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Monday-Friday work schedule!
- NO Nights, NO Weekends, NO Holiday work hours!
- NO call required!
Required Skills:
- Medical Assistant or clinical training, preferred
- Sterile Processing experience or training, preferred
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Ability to adapt to change quickly
- Effective communication and critical thinking skills
- BLS Certification (current upon hire)
