Store Team Leader

Job Summary
A Store Team Leader (STL) is primarily responsible for creating a healthy and positive environment in the store for all members of the Team and Neighbors, as well as optimizing store performance. This must be achieved through daily commitment to, and upholding the values of “The Talk”. The STL will be a champion for advancing operational “Best Practices” with a sharp focus on the store and store team deficiencies and opportunities. The STL must equally recognize and celebrate successes of the team on a daily basis.
Reports To
This position reports primarily to the Director of Store Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that each Neighbor receives outstanding Service by enthusiastically acknowledging and appreciating our Neighbors through greeting, assisting, thanking and assuming the carry out every visit.
- Employee Hiring, Evaluations and Training, Corrective Action and Terminations:
- Perform hiring, onboarding functions, execute employee corrective actions (including terminations).
- Coach, evaluate and develop all employees through the Company’s education and operational training, while utilizing the Daily Checklist in conjunction with the Operational Checklist, which embodies USR’s “Best Practices”.
- Execute daily communication with the team through group huddles, one-on-ones and other proper channels.
- Manage and achieve Company goals for:
- Retail Sales
- Service Sales
- Private and Preferred Brand Sales
- Store Labor Costs and Proper Scheduling
- Adequate Staffing Levels (including Service Department)
- Inventory Levels and Accuracy
- Store Purchases and Maintenance Expenses
- Average Items per transaction
- Neighbor Satisfaction
- Carryout Metric
- Email Capture Percentage
- Neighbor Ready Review Scores
- Shrink
- Team Development
- Maintain awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, and advertisements.
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store management and staff meetings and store walk-through.
- Assist the team in completion of tasks.
- Continually evaluate and promptly respond to performance issues.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by Market Team Leader or Director of Store Operations.
Education and Experience
Strong retail supervisory experience within the retail industry and/or strong successful experience as Store Team Leader.
Required Skill/Abilities
- Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to bend and kneel, as needed, to stock shelves.
- Ability to safely operate all store equipment necessary to run the store.
- Ability to process information through computer systems and POS register systems.
- Ability to positively communicate with Team Members and Neighbors.
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
- Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock room, and register area.
- Ability to work any shifts required by the business, including nights, weekends and without a set schedule.
- Excellent Attendance.
Work Schedule
This is full-time salaried position with expected work hours of 45 hours per week.
