We are a nonprofit membership organization recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. USRowing selects, trains, and manages the team that represent the U.S. in international competition.

Position Summary: USRowing is offering one internship position in the Marketing & Communications Department during the summer of 2025. Ideal candidates will have the ability to work creatively and effectively in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.
As a member of the Marketing and Communications team, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple areas of the organization, including program development, communications, membership engagement, and event planning. From supporting our signature United We Row initiatives—such as grants to membership organizations and scholarships for athletes and coaches—to helping cultivate an inclusive and accessible environment at regattas and national events, your work will directly contribute to breaking down barriers in the sport of rowing.
Key Responsibilities
Copywriting and Editing
- Draft and edit press releases and feature stories that celebrate the rowing community, and high performance athletes.
- Assist with the production of press kits, including athlete bios, for the U.S. national teams and youth national teams.
- Update copy and create new pages on USRowing.org to be consistent with brand voice and messaging.
Research and Data Collection
- Deep dive into rowing history, historical results both domestically and internationally to identify themes, narratives, and storylines that support USRowing’s marketing and communications strategy.
- Interview members of the rowing community and athletes to support feature stories, athlete profiles etc.
- Assist with gathering analytics for owned digital platforms.
Digital Asset Management
- Organize, tag, log, and cleanse archival photos, video footage, and other content on video drives, in SmugMug, Air, and USRowing.org.
- Build a stock media library to support ease of access to default photography and video.
- Organizing USRowing’s YouTube page, and optimizing content for search, visibility, and brand alignment.
Qualifications
- Experience in journalism, sports information/media relations, or a related field.
- Knowledge of rowing, and the rowing community.
- Proficient writing skills and proofreading ability
- Proven use and knowledge of AP style.
- Strong organizational skills paired with experience managing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated interpersonal abilities.
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft 365, Mailchimp, SmugMug, or any CMS.
