As Community Outreach Coordinator:
- Works closely with the Social Media Coordinator – who reports to the Business Manager – to assist in managing the Museum’s aggressive social media presence:
- Creating reports to the Business Manager on the status and effectiveness of the Museum’s social media promotion efforts.
- Creates and maintains the Museum’s brand and presence on various social media platforms.
- Constantly growing the Museum’s social media campaigns and creation of content.
- Hosts online interactive sessions, like podcasts or interviews, with guests external to the Museum.
- Sets up performance metrics (such as likes and shares) to measure the museum's social media influence.
- Works in the local community to assist social media efforts to raise awareness of the Museum and solicit donations
As Exhibits Planner:
- Reports to the Curator in the development, layout, and strategic planning of museum exhibits.
- Collaborates in the design and fabrication of museum exhibits, utilizing CAD software to produce detailed and accurate drawings.
- Establishes and maintains design standards for typography, stylization, and visual consistency across all museum displays.
- Executes tasks related to exhibit design, installation, and finishing, helping the Curator to ensure alignment with the museum’s Strategic Plan.
- Documents and catalogues design drawings to create an accessible library for future reference, expansion, or refurbishment projects.
- Develops and maintains project schedules, providing regular updates and sharable documentation to leadership, including status reports, comments, and necessary revisions.
Participate in meetings to provide progress updates on assigned tasks and collaborate with the team to ensure project milestones are met.
In addition to the above responsibilities, required to fulfil duties as a Visitor Experience Crewmember, with a future development pathway to the position of Duty Officer:
- Reports to the Operations Manager in providing a valued experience to all Museum guests.
- Required to learn and understand the history of the USS KIDD and have a general understanding of the WWII time period.
- Provide an educational experience while safely guiding groups of various ages through the ship.
- Open and close the ship, greet visitors, provide a safety briefing, and answer questions with acquired knowledge.
- Sell tickets and souvenirs and handle cash and credit transactions responsibly.
- Clean and restock restrooms, police the museum compound and/or sweep the ship as needed during Museum operating hours, as well routinely at the end of each business day.
- May be requested to work, as needed, on after-hours Museum special events.
