What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Laborer position at USS Lexington Museum On The Bay?
Scope: To do manual labor as assigned within the Museum.
Responsibilities:
- Has the initial responsibility of ensuring the spaces and structures are properly preserved, painted and cleaned.
- Evaluation of spaces with overall concern regarding materials and time of completion.
- Responsible for cleaning and painting tanks within the Museum. Must perform manual cleaning and labor work as needed.
- Follow a weekly schedule for normal work operations. Typically work Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
- Attend safety meetings of equipment and chemical use as scheduled.
- Set up caution signs for visitors when needed.
- Painting and highlighting of inadequate ship structures that pose safety problems along new tour routes and where the constant flow of personnel traffic occurs.
- Maintenance of deck/paint
- Must be capable of understanding and implementing the Lexington's Safety Program.
- Must be capable of understanding and implementing the Lexington's Heavy Weather Plan.
- Perform any other job duties as delegated by Director of Operations.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the environment is moderate, and may be exposed to chemical agents, plumbing supplies and fumes.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is continuously required to sit; use continuous hand, arm and finger manipulation while performing the daily job function; continuously walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and standing/walking on steel railways requiring balance. Environment requires climbing steep stairwells, so comfortable clothing and shoes with non-skid soles are recommended. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25-50 pounds. The vision requirements include: clear concise, close/distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
