The Overnight Adventure Program at the USS Silversides Submarine Museum continues to expand so we are expanding our team! We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Overnight Custodian and Security Associate to maintain the cleanliness and security of our historic facility. This part-time role primarily covers weekend shifts and involves cleaning, ensuring the safety of overnight guests, and responding to any emergencies. This position plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors and staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Custodial Duties:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including but not limited to:
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
- Emptying trash and recycling bins.
- Cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies
- Duties and sanitizing surfaces
- Maintaining cleanliness in high-traffic areas and exhibit spaces
- Inspect and clean outdoor areas as needed.
- Report maintenance issues or supply needs promptly to the Office Manager.
Security Duties:
- Monitor the facility during overnight hours to ensure the safety of guests and the security of the museum campus.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs of the premises, including exhibit spaces, common areas, and outdoor grounds.
- Respond to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies promptly and appropriately.
- Ensure that overnight guests adhere to safety and conduct guidelines.
- Communicate any incidents or concerns to the Executive Director in a timely manner.
Guest Support
- Provide a courteous and professional presence to overnight guests.
- Assist with guest needs during their stay, ensuring a positive experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior Experience in custodial or security roles preferred.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly during overnight hours.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must pass a background check.
- Completion of youth protection training (provided by museum).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods.
- Availability to work weekends and overnight shifts as scheduled.
