You Are:
We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating clear and concise technical documentation, with experience in writing release notes for software products. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality content that communicates complex technical information to a variety of audiences. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and QA, to create comprehensive documentation that supports software releases, new features, user guides, and more.
The Opportunity:
- Write and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, API documentation, system architecture overviews, and release notes.
- Write detailed and user-friendly release notes that clearly describe new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and any other changes in each release.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and quality assurance teams to gather information on software updates and translate technical details into clear, concise documentation.
- Ensure that release notes are accurate, well-organized, and aligned with the software versioning system.
- Edit and proofread technical content to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
- Maintain a structured approach to version control for all documentation, ensuring updates are tracked and properly organized.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal documentation processes, helping to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Support the creation of knowledge base articles, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Participate in team meetings to stay up-to-date on project timelines and upcoming releases.

What You Need:
- 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, with a focus on creating clear and effective documentation for software products.
- Strong experience writing release notes that convey technical information in an accessible and user-friendly way.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, managing multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with software development life cycle, version control, and Agile methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate documentation.
- Proficiency in documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Microsoft Word, MadCap Flare, etc.) and knowledge of version control systems.
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, or Markdown is a plus.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience writing documentation for web-based or enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger, Postman).
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: Remote
Compensation Range: $70,000-$107,000
Benefits
Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.
