Compliance Specialist Overview
As the Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing all contractor compliance functions and ensuring processes comply with federal and state regulations, DOT, and Company policy.
Pay: $35,000 to $45,000 per year
Schedule: Monday - Friday (hybrid) 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
(include, but are not limited to)
- Administers contacting independent contractor about various compliance issues
- Answers phone, resolving compliance issues and concerns as necessary
- Communicates effectively with field managers/support, assisting new managers understand requirements
- Conducts regular audits/maintenance of compliance related systems ensuring accuracy and updates
- Effectively utilizes compliance systems
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers
- Interprets an extensive variety of instructions in written form
- Maintains compliance and contractor profile databases and updating employee user credentials and any applicable third-party systems
- Manages contractor compliance by maintaining accurate and updated profiles, collecting necessary documentation for expired compliance items, and notifying contractors/drivers of any upcoming expirations
- Manages contractor termination process, ensuring all documentation and communication have been completed per Independent Trucking Agreement and Company policy, this includes proper notification to contractor, field management, and ancillary departments affected by contractor status changes
- Manages independent contractor insurance program, working with provider/broker and all field management to ensure required coverages are communicated
- Oversees all incoming emails to compliance inboxes
- Oversees contractor on-boarding and verification of all process requirements; this includes screening qualifications, applicable document collection, Openforce enrollment, DOT authorization, signed fee schedules, and insurance procurement
- Prepares reports and correspondence timely and professionally
- Provides backup support to other team/group members in the performance of job duties assigned
- Verifies IC Business Status with Secretary of State site
- Coaches onboarding Independent Contractors and assists with their insurance questions
Requirements
- Ability to be assertive, yet always remain professional

- Ability to multi-task and provide thorough follow-up
- Ability to use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work weekends and extended hours
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication
- High School Diploma and 1-2 years of compliance experience, preferably in the furniture or appliances in a retail environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
