Summary
The Tennis Instructor teaches and facilitates tennis programs as directed and assists the Head Tennis Professional with coordinating activities, camps, and events.
Essential Duties
- Creates a welcoming, safe, and fun learning environment for the participants
- Provides tennis instruction to beginner through intermediate level children and adults in a group or individual setting, and implements curriculum by facilitating/instructing play according to USTA Florida standards and guidelines
- Assists in the promotion of, as well as conducts, tennis clinics, tournaments, mixers, special events and programs, including Junior Team Tennis, Adult Beginner, and Community programming
- Assists in supervising play and ensures proper charging of fees and rental of equipment
- Properly inspects courts/facilities prior to the start of play, ensures all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order
- Reports any maintenance issues to the Facility Head Tennis Professional
- Responsible for implementing safety rules and compliance, reports any notable concerns, incidents, and safety hazards to Facility Head Tennis professional
- Provides feedback on students and programs to Head Professional
- Adheres to objectives and goals of USTA Florida Section and its Tennis Management Division
- Ability to utilize court reservation software/POS software once given proper training
- Addresses players’ concerns in a timely manner, assists in special events and facility maintenance, including but not limited to clay court maintenance/restrooms/tennis shop
- Performs other job-related duties as requested

- Some travel required to meetings and satellite locations (facility dependent)
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-5 years of Tennis play experience
- 1 year experience as a Tennis Instructor preferred
- USPTA or PTR Certification preferred
- USTA member preferred
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and have reliable transportation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Excel, Office 365, and Outlook
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have a professional and positive attitude
- Must be able to pass the USTA Safe Play and USTA FL Section background checks
- Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activity
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Outgoing and engaging personality that will ensure an enjoyable and entertaining environment in a safe and professional setting
- Must play at a USTA level of 3.5 or above
- Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of the game of Tennis
- Tennis Equipment knowledge preferred

Work Environment
- Frequently works in and outdoors – exposed to weather conditions
