Status: Part Time; Hourly; Non-Exempt (15-20 hours per week)

USTA PNW is looking for an Accounting and Administrative Associate to help drive our mission on and off the court. This position reports to the Director of Accounting.
Established in 1904, the United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest (USTA PNW) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization working to promote and develop the growth of tennis by providing access for all. As one of the 17 sections of the USTA, the national governing body of the sport of tennis, USTA PNW serves over 25,000 individual adult and junior members, 200 tennis facilities, and provides low-cost RecTennis afterschool and summer programs to 40,000 participants. USTA PNW has cultivated over 300 community partnerships including schools, public parks, recreation and shared spaces across four states.
The Accounting Specialist will serve as a support role within the Accounting Department and will ideally have 1-3 years of accounting experience. This position may include different functions of accounting - primarily oversight of accounts payable and account reconciliations. To be considered for this role, you must reside in the Pacific Northwest boundaries. This position is a remote role, but within the PNW boundaries (preferably Oregon or Washington).
MAJOR DUTIES:
Accounting (10-15 hours per week):
- Data entry and processing: Recording financial transactions into accounting software.
- Account reconciliation: Matching and verifying financial transactions between different accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Financial statement preparation: Generating monthly financial reporting.
- Vendor management: Processing vendor invoices and managing payment schedules.
- Bank reconciliations: Matching bank statements with internal records to identify discrepancies.
- General ledger maintenance: Posting journal entries to the general ledger.
- Audit preparation assistance: Supporting with gathering information and preparing tax documents.
- Project: Transition weekly payments from checks to electronic payments.
Administrative Support/Human Resources (5 hours per week):
- Handle sensitive information in a confidential matter.
- Establish and maintain effective, cooperative, professional and courteous working relationships with team and colleagues.
- Support the SafePlay initiative and track SafePlay records weekly. Partner with Onboarding and Engagement Specialist to ensure on-going SafePlay compliance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not applicable.
INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: Works primarily and directly with the Director of Accounting and Director of Human Resources Operations and People.
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: Maintains high quality customer service with vendors and partners. Represent the mission and organization at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong attention to detail: Accuracy is crucial when handling financial data.
- Proficiency in accounting software: Familiarity with NetSuite, Concur and Stripe a plus.
- Understanding of accounting principles: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Analytical skills: Ability to interpret financial data and identify potential issues.
- Dependability, communication skills, and an excellent work ethic.
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
- Must have a friendly, outgoing personality and enjoy social interaction.
- Work independently and collaboratively to accomplish responsibilities, goals and projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
CONDITIONS OF HIRE:
- Must have the ability to continually pass a background check and verified authorization to work within the United States via E-Verify.
- Must complete the USTA Safe Sport online education course. Link provided with offer of employment. Online course takes approximately 60 minutes.
- Must annually sign the USTA PNW Offer Letter and Employee Handbook.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This role is a remote position.
- The ability to carry out repetitive motions regularly.
- The ability to work for length of shift (with breaks and lunches given per policy).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Hourly rates commensurate with experience outlined in annually signed Offer Letter.
- Position currently ineligible for USTA PNW health benefits as outlined in the annually signed Employee Handbook.

- Eligibility for discounted rate or free programming at all RecTennis locations and USTA PNW operated tennis facilities.
