The Role 

The US Open Player Medical Operations Liaison is the primary point of contact for all medical matters related to players during the tournament. This role involves coordinating daily interactions with WTA/ATP medical teams, physicians, and massage therapists, as well as managing medical supplies and setup across multiple locations (tournament site, Cary Leeds, and player hotel).

Schedule

Dates: Monday, June 2, 2025 - Friday, October 3, 2025

June 2, 2025 - August 4, 2025 & September 9, 2025 - October 3, 2025 - Approximately 5 hours weekly

National Tennis Center: August 4, 2025 - September 8,2025.

  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact and primary liaison with WTA/ATP medical teams, physicians, and massage therapists, facilitating communication and coordination of player medical needs.
  • Oversee the coordination of medical supplies and setup for ATP, WTA, and Junior players at the main tournament site, the Cary Leeds Center, and the designated player hotel. This includes reviewing and managing supply lists provided by the ATP and WTA, ensuring adequate stock levels, and organizing efficient distribution.
  • Communicate on-site facility needs related to player medical services to the Director of Player Operations, ensuring appropriate resources and accommodations are available. This may include requests for additional space, equipment, or other support services.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Player Operations on budget-related items, including tracking expenses, managing invoices, and assisting with budget preparation for player medical services.
  • Manage the hiring and scheduling of qualified athletic trainers for Wheelchair, Junior, and Junior Wheelchair players, ensuring appropriate coverage for all events and practice sessions.
  • Source and procure medical equipment and supplies upon request for Junior, Wheelchair, and Junior Wheelchair players, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Manage all aspects of contracts and paperwork for independent medical contractors (physicians, trainers, and massage therapists). This includes:
  • Distributing and collecting required paperwork, such as compliance training documents, W9 forms, and ACH forms.
  • Ensuring all contractors complete required compliance training.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all contracts and related documentation.
  • Review staff lists and schedules for all medical independent contractors and prepare invoices for services rendered, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Player Operations.

Who You Are

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred (e.g., Sports Management, Kinesiology, Athletic Training).
  • Experience in sports medicine or a related field, preferably experience working with professional athletes.
  • Experience using billing software such as Concur, preferred
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Experience managing contracts and budgets is a plus.

Compensation: This position is non-exempt with an hourly rate of $25 per hour during the pre-tournament period. During the tournament, the role transitions to an exempt position with a total salary of $7,500.
