What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Center Technician position at UT Dallas?
Data Center Technicians operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions, rack and cable equipment. They inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems (such as piping, electrical, and mechanical system components).
The Data Center Technicians read blueprints / schematics, conduct inspections of systems and assess their working order. Ensures that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, they assist the lead technician in managing data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma and two years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- 1 year of experience working in a data center or critical facility
- Good communication skills – written and verbal
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience with data center data and facility equipment
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Electrical / Mechanical expertise

Perform facility equipment (e.g., HVAC, electrical, security) maintenance
Receive deliveries

This is a 3rd shift assignment.
Tuesday- Saturday, 12 : 00am – 8 : 00 am, off Sunday and Monday.
This position will work at the Fort Worth location in person and on site.
