What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Scrub Tech position at UT Health East Texas?
Functions as primary scrub technologist for a variety of routine and complex procedures, while consistently demonstrating clinical skills with confidence and competence. Individual is responsible for ensuring, along with other surgical team members, maintaining the sterile field, applying aseptic technique principles to ensure a safe, aseptic and cost-effective environment to all patients that clearly spells quality and excellence Duties, Accountabilities and Responsibilities: -Assists the RN in identifying needs relative to individual patient assessment and age-specific requirements from infants to geriatrics -Performs a variety of routine/complex procedures with confidence and competence -Utilizes equipment, instruments, supplies in accordance with standard operating procedures to facilitate expected outcome for patients -Participates in CQI by collecting and monitoring data for performance improvement to produce quality and excellent patient outcome -Provides good customer service by utilizing good communication skills and technical knowledge to ensure objectives are maintained -Maintain skills and knowledge through training and continuing education to provide expected standards of care -Acts as a resource and role model for new staff and students -Adheres to departmental policies and procedures while carrying out duties and responsibilities as identified
Education: -High School diploma or equivalent -Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
Experience: -Operating Room experience preferred
Certification and Licensure: -Hold current certification with one of the following: the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, the National Center for Competency Testing or another surgical technologist certification program approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services -CPR certified
Education: -High School diploma or equivalent -Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
