Job Description
Under limited supervision, provides professional project and program management and leadership on multiple, large, complex, higher education academic, healthcare and research furnishings projects. Directs furnishings design service professionals and administer contracts necessary to meet project goals.
Responsibilities
- Manages the planning, design, procurement, budget, schedule, execution, commissioning and warranty of furnishings for capital improvement projects. Provides project leadership, communication, coordination and conflict resolution to ensure project goals are met.
- Provides pre-project / project planning support to all Program and Project Managers, including Capital Improvement Plan preparation and approval process support. Facilitates timely decisions by campus representatives and report progress and issues impacting the project goals to stakeholders.
- Ensures contract documents comply with project requirements. Facilitates timely review of documents at each phase of work. Advocates with integrity for the campus in contract negotiations. Reviews and approve specification and vendor contracts, bid documents, invoices, etc. Facilitates approvals as required.
- Facilitates coordination with Resident Construction Manager, Senior Construction Inspectors, Construction Inspectors and institution staff in management of activities and processes, during installation of furnishings.
- Acts as primary liaison with campus administration, staff, facility user groups and operations during design and contract administration to ensure timely input, manage expectations, resolve conflicts, and facilitate decisions.
- Applys project control processes to track progress, for consistency, to mitigate risks, and to assure compliance with Board of Regents Rules & Regulations and applicable State and Federal statues and regulations.
- Stays current in Codes and Regulations applicable to furnishing placement and design, including ADA, and any special requirements of the building type (e.g., healthcare, research labs, etc.) or local jurisdictions. Stays current in contract furnishings marketplace introductions. Conducts ongoing evaluations of furniture concepts, design and construction.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Proven knowledge in design, construction administration, and / or project management.
Ability to lead in a team environment.
Experience with Microsoft Project or a similar scheduling system is preferred.
Ability to be hands-on and balance time between management activities within the office and on the jobsite.
