Job Description
Under limited supervision, responsible for developing, performing, leading, and supervising moderate to complex internal audits, investigations, and consulting engagements in compliance with pertinent rules and regulations within prescribed deadlines. Ensures audit findings and recommendations are practical and sustainable while validating all exceptions with process owners and local management to ensure reportable issues have been appropriately resolved. May lead or mentor other team members. Assists in linking risk assessments to strategic objectives. May participate in discussion with the business areas for the purpose of soliciting critical risk information.
Responsibilities
1. Supports the annual internal audit plan by executing moderate to complex internal audits of the Institution's functions, processes, and control activities to ensure reliability and integrity of information, compliance with policies and procedures, and achievement of operational goals and objectives.
2. Understand and evaluate Institution business processes through the performance of interviews, process walkthroughs, and documentation of process narratives and / or flowcharts.
4. Analyzes evidence, identifies gaps and areas for improvement and evaluates their significance and potential business impact in order to improve process effectiveness.
5. Communicates assigned tasks to engagement teams in a manner that is clear and concise, ensuring high quality of deliverables.
6. Review project team's workpapers, provide and ensure closure of review notes, and escalate potential findings for additional review.
7. Monitors and reviews job progress and work papers to ensure accurate and timely completion of audit projects.
8. Prioritize audit work for themselves and the project team; escalate to IA management when necessary.
9. Provide audit / project specific feedback from the project team to IA management.
10. Facilitates the communication of audit results and recommendations through written reports and presentations to management.
11. Provides verbal and written recommendations to management on process and internal control improvements.
12. Prepares audit reports and ensures audit findings have been confirmed by management and recommendations are practical and sustainable.
13. Validates all management action plans with process owners and local management to ensure the reportable issues have been appropriately resolved.
14. Build and maintain professional relationships with audit stakeholders.
15. Attends learning programs, training and networking sessions while preparing / executing a defined career path.
16. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Possesses and applies strong knowledge and understanding of fraud prevention, detection, awareness, and auditing techniques.
2. Ability to communicate audit risks / objectives.
3. Develop alternative approaches for problem solving.
4. Detail oriented, self-motivated and directed; takes ownership for deliverables and deadlines.
5. Ability to prepare audit programs using a risk-based approach, execute substantive procedures, test internal controls and arrive at supportable conclusions.
6. Ability to lead, direct and contribute to initiatives and processes within the Institution while creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows.
7. Possesses and applies strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
8. Assignments can be broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
9. Strong project management and documentation skills, including the ability to produce process walkthroughs, narratives / flow charts and transactional testing with the ability to meet deadlines and work concurrently on multiple projects.
10. Influence positive change timely within team and audit stakeholders.
11. Assist with continuous improvement for the internal audit practices, policies, and processes.
12. Promote inclusiveness through recognizing own and others' experiences to deliver better outcomes.
13. Make clear, well informed, confident, and well considered decisions for project team, working closely with the relevant Audit Manager / Director.
14. Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio skills; ability to acquire and maintain skills as technology changes.
15. Experience of ACL, Idea, and / or Microsoft Power BI.
16. Knowledge of audit software such as TeamMate, AuditBoard, Walter Kluwer or Pentana.
17. Familiarity with financial management and budget systems such as PeopleSoft and Hyperion.
18. Understanding of medical record system systems such as Epic and Axium.
19. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
20. Sought out by audit team and stakeholders for audit knowledge or assistance.
EDUCATION :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field is required.
