Responsibilities
- Ensures systems infrastructure is performing optimally, and has the appropriate capacity for continued availability and performance.
- Develops and implements department standards and procedures.
- Coordinates technical support and direction to programming, operations and other departments.
- Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing work; appraising productivity and efficiency, handling complaints/grievances and disciplining when necessary.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Manage, mentor, and support team members in their day-to-day responsibilities and career growth.
- Foster collaboration within the team and across departments.
- Oversee key IT systems like data centers, VMware, backup and disaster recovery solutions, Active Directory, and load balancing.
- Ensure reliable server builds and consistent OS patching to maintain secure, up-to-date systems.
- Improve IT resilience by implementing strategies to enhance reliability, tolerability, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Manage the team’s budget effectively and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
- Use showback and chargeback models to track and optimize resource usage and costs.
- Stay up to date with trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for improvement
- Encourage innovation within the team to enhance service delivery and productivity.
- Build strong relationships with IT and business leaders to understand and meet their needs.
- Partner with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and knowledge sharing.
- Work closely with sourcing and vendor managers to ensure quality and cost-effective services.
- Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of system administration standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
- Ability to lead, direct and contribute to initiatives and processes within the institution while creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows.
- Possesses a strong sense of urgency in resolving disruptions in service performance or availability.
- Ability to identify systems issues based on risk and demonstrate the value of mitigating controls.
- Must be detailed in documenting information, highly organized, and practice good follow-through techniques.
- Bachelor's degree is Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business or a related field is required.

- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
