Under minimal supervision, responsible for conducting complex policy research and policy development for UT Health San Antonio. Monitors and analyzes federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory activities, and makes written recommendation for policy formulation and amendment within the framework of the Standards of Conduct, accreditation, federal and state regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Policy Analyst experience acquired in an academic healthcare or compliance setting is preferred.

Monitors and analyzes federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory activities, and makes written recommendation for policy formulation and amendment within the framework of the Standards of Conduct, accreditation, federal and state regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a working knowledge of healthcare law, regulations, and accreditation standards that impacts policy content in an academic healthcare system.
- Monitors and analyzes federal, state, and local legislative regulatory activities, and incorporates regulatory updates into relevant policies and recommendation for policy amendments.
- Ensures policy formulation and proposed amendments meet accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Assures policies are regularly reviewed and authoritatively approved.
- Formulates new policy content and drafts amendments to policies as in necessary to recommend practical improvements and to maintain relevant and compliant content.
- Makes determination as to whether policies are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Evaluates current policies to identify accreditation or regulatory vulnerability and suggests content for practical improvement.
- Consults with internal and external stakeholders to ensure inclusion of relevant consideration when formulating or amending policy content.
- Maintains electronic repository system documentation as is necessary to ensure proper retention of prior policy versions, and statusing of policy updates that are planned, and in progress.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Ability to align policy content with regulatory requirements and business strategy.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of conventions and standards necessary to research requirements and formulate or amend healthcare policy content.
- Ability to conduct and synthesize information to establish requirements and thresholds necessary to define policies compliant with legal and regulatory frameworks; and to identify incompleteness or omissions in existing policies.
- Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient report development and presentation skills using tools in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent recordkeeping, written and oral communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in health care, business, law or related field is required.
- Graduate-level degree (MPH, MHA, MBA, JD) or equivalent is preferred.
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or Certified in Healthcare Policy Compliance (CHPC) preferred.
