Job Description
Responsible for planning, designing, monitoring, coordinating, analyzing and producing scientific content for clinical and regulatory documents and research projects. Leads research staff on one or more research projects, serving as expert in specialized area.
Responsibilities
- Develops, designs, and executes one or more large and complex research projects, reviews progress, analyses data and evaluates results.
- Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality; identifies potential problems, recommends and implements solutions.
- Consults with users to refine or adapt methodologies to fit research requirements; collaborates in development of new techniques and instruments.
- Organizes, maintains the laboratory and lab ordering, training of personnel, researching and recommending equipment and maintaining documentation and storage of biomaterials.
- Co-authors / authors scientific publications; presents at meetings and conferences; participates in acquiring research funding including writing grant proposals.
- Manages and reviews medical writing of study protocols, statistical analysis and study reports.
- Manages the hiring, firing, or promoting of assigned employees or makes recommendations that are given particular weight.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Medical - UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Retirement - Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.
