Surgical Physician Assistant Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Physician Assistant Specialist to join our team at UT Health Science Center. As a key member of our surgical department, you will provide advanced medical care to patients in a surgical setting, working closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals.
Job Summary:
The Surgical Physician Assistant Specialist will be responsible for conducting complex patient care procedures, assessing patient complaints, and providing appropriate treatment. You will perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician and manage pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the faculty supervising physician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts standardized patient care procedures requiring experience and specialized training under the direction of a surgeon.
- Assesses patient's medical complaints and provides appropriate treatment, ordering laboratory tests and interpreting laboratory data as needed.
- Performs minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician, monitoring treatment programs and informing attending physicians of pertinent medical/surgical information.
- Provides guidance and instruction to patients on preventive health care or postsurgical care, assisting physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
Requirements:
- Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant
- Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or specialty required by department
- Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment required by work
