Position Summary:
Endoscope Reprocessing Technicians are responsible for the high-level disinfection and sterilization of endoscopes and other medical instruments used in surgical procedures and patient examinations. They play a vital role in maintaining patient safety and preventing infections.
The duties and responsibilities of Endoscope Reprocessing Technicians include:
Follow strict reprocessing procedures to clean, disinfect and store endoscopes and other medical equipment
Inspect endoscopes and other instruments for any damage, wear and tear before and after sterilization
Perform leak testing of the endoscopes to check for any defects
Assemble and prepare equipment for use, ensuring all necessary components are present and in working order
Document all processes, including sterilization times, equipment used, and any issues or irregularities
Ensure adherence to all infection control and safety standards
Maintain inventory of all endoscopy equipment and supplies
Communicate with medical staff to ensure the availability of clean and sterilized endoscopes as needed
Participate in ongoing training and education on new equipment, procedures, and safety protocols
Detailed oriented
Position Qualification:
- High school diploma or GED preferred; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
