What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Unit Coordinator (MON-FRI) position at UT MEDICAL CENTER?
*30 Hours per week and off on Wednesday OR 40 Hours per week with Wednesday coverage in Knoxville*
Coordinates and performs the receptionist role and coordinates all non-clinical functions on a clinical unit. Accountable to the Registered Nurse.
- Communicates effectively with patient, visitors and health care team.
- Coordinates stocking nursing supplies on the unit and picking up infusion products from other departments for patient use.
- Coordinates scheduling of outpatient appointments.
- Assists with patient flow and patient safety
- Maintains patient charts.
- Operates nursing unit equipment: fax machine, computer, printer and multi-line telephone.
- Plans and executes a daily routine for performance of non-clinical tasks for the Nursing Unit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED preferred; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by The National Association of Health Unit Coordinators preferred.
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and have excellent organizational skills. Health Unit Coordinator (Unit Secretary) experience preferred. Health related experience required.
