The Infection Prevention Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Infection Prevention Department to ensure the delivery of high-quality care, effective personnel management, and optimal resource utilization. Acting as a liaison between the Infection Prevention team, physicians, nursing, and administration, the manager will lead process evaluations and procedural changes to enhance patient outcomes. The role requires maintaining expertise in infection prevention and control while staying up to date on regulatory changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support clinical services by addressing infection prevention issues across the organization.
- Develop, analyze, and maintain a reporting system to monitor high-risk diagnoses, patient groups, physicians, and specific care processes.
- Provide consultation, education, and support to staff to achieve effective infection prevention and control outcomes.
- Plan, implement, and manage processes to measure, assess, and improve infection prevention services.
- Lead interdisciplinary teams in reviewing, analyzing, and recommending practice changes, as well as developing guidelines to enhance both clinical and financial outcomes related to infection prevention.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital's Infection Prevention program.
- Stay informed of regulatory changes at the state and national levels, ensuring compliance with relevant mandates.
- Organize and lead multidisciplinary infection prevention committees to develop and implement organizational initiatives focused on infection prevention and control.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree – Required
- Master's Degree – Preferred
- 3-5 years of progressive leadership or infection prevention experience
- Must be a Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee, a Medical Laboratory Technologist, or possess an equivalent license.
- Infection Control and/or Hospital Epidemiology (CIC) Certification required or the commitment to obtain certification within three years of assuming the role.
