What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduling Assistant position at UT Medical Center?
Position Summary
Scheduling emergency, non-emergency and next day surgeries. Scheduling OR rooms with assistance from the charge nurse, team leader nurse/speciality nurse or anesthesia staff as needed. Assures correct surgical procedure is selected in the computer system in order for the correct charges, and doctor preference card to be pulled. Responsible for linking the surgical patient to the correct patient account, calling Sterile Processing so supplies are pulled correctly for the surgery, notifying Anesthesia, Pre-Op and team leader/specialty nurses as needed, and ordering special equipment if needed. Supports the OR staff as needed.
Position Qualification
High school diploma. 6 months of healthcare experience with surgical experience preferred.
