JOB SUMMARY The School of Public Health is looking to hire a Data Scientist III. The Data Scientist will be responsible for executing critical data aquisition, exploration, curation, analysis, and management tasks across multiple projects within the Biostatistics and Data Science Core (BDSC). This role requires the application of advanced statistical methods, data science principles, natural language processing, and AI techniques. Additionally, the Data Scientist will support BDSC users by providing consultations, participating in meetings, and assisting with the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
  • Education
    PhD In Computer Science, Bioinformatics, (Bio)mathematics, (Bio)statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field or
    Master's Degree M.S. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, (Bio)mathematics, (Bio)statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field or
    Bachelor's Degree B.S. with demonstrated experience in broadly defined areas of bioinformatics
  • Experience
    4 years Four (4) - six (6) years post-graduation experience in data analysis and/or scientific software development.
JOB DUTIES
    • Analyzes and develops formalisms, algorithms and software for applications in biomedical research.
    • Develops and maintains software tools and infrastructure for resolving specific problems.
    • Oversees the development, testing and revision of programs in a team with diverse bioinformatics expertise.
    • Trains users and other personnel in analyzing, defining and resolving computational problems.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
