What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Physician-Scientist position at UT Southwestern Medical Center?
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Pathology is seeking exceptional, academic physician-scientists with significant research programs and expertise in anatomic and/or clinical pathology. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic and clinical accomplishments and experience. The applicant must have an MD, MD/PhD, or DO, be certified by the American Board of Pathology or a cooperating society, and have or be eligible for a Texas medical license. Preference will be given to those with existing extramural grant funds and research in cancer, neuroscience or immunology.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop or continue an ongoing, wet-bench research program funded via extramural, federal sources. Depending on track and funding, up to 95% of effort may be available for research. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be highly collaborative. In addition to research and possible patient care activities, the selected candidate will be expected to participate in medical student and house staff teaching. Outstanding opportunities for collaborative basic or translational research are available with faculty members throughout UT Southwestern. Excellent resources, start‐up funds, renovated laboratory space are available as are proximity to UTSW Cores and animal facilities.
