What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatric Hepatology Section Chief position at UT Southwestern Medical Center?
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking a Section Chief of Pediatric Hepatology to join the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at UT Southwestern and Children’s Health Dallas.
The physician will establish the Section of Pediatric Hepatology and Children’s Liver Center as a leader in pediatric liver care and transplantation by offering high quality and accessible services to a wide geographic area. In addition to serving as Chief, the physician will also be the Medical Director of the Liver Care Center at Children’s Health, overseeing a team of five pediatric transplant hepatologists who specialize in managing pre- and post-transplant patients with state-of-the-art, evidence-based clinical care protocols. The role will focus on improving service delivery through enhanced accessibility, specialized care, and the integration of services across inpatient and outpatient settings. The Chief will enhance existing translational and clinical research to develop new diagnostic and treatment protocols to improve clinical outcomes. Excellence in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows is expected. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in translational and/or clinical research in hepatology or liver transplantation, with a demonstrated history of extramural funding, impactful original publications, and active participation in research collaboratives.
