The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rehabilitation Psychologist with strong leadership capabilities to oversee and expand its Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Psychology program across two leading hospitals and affiliated outpatient clinics. This is a unique opportunity to take on both clinical and administrative leadership roles within a rapidly growing and dynamic healthcare system. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the program while also mentoring and engaging with residents, fellows, and medical students in one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious PM&R training programs. This position offers the chance to make a lasting impact on both the clinical care and educational development of future healthcare professionals.

Research Environment: Collaborate with basic science and clinical teams to support interdisciplinary research with ample resources for biostatistical, administrative, and logistical support.

Minimum Qualifications:  This position requires a doctorate in clinical psychology from an accredited university and at least 5 years psychology practice experience, preferrably Rehabilitation Psychology. 

In addition, the selected candidate must obtain a Texas Psychology License, must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Rehabilitation Psychology and/or Neuropsychology.  Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Role Responsibilities and Duties:  Clinically, the ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing and addressing the psychological needs of individuals dealing with disabilities or chronic health conditions. They will help clients cope with the emotional and cognitive challenges that arise from their conditions and guide them in developing effective coping strategies. This role involves creating and implementing personalized rehabilitation plans tailored to each client’s unique needs and abilities. The psychologist will also work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, occupational therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care and promote the client's maximum independence. The candidate must demonstrate empathy, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to support clients in achieving both emotional well-being and functional independence.
