Job Summary

A Bioinformatician position is available in the Department of Immunology, Microbiome Core.  We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated, self-driven Research associate to work as a part of Core Facility Team. This person should have wide and solid expertise in RNA sequencing, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Single cell sequencing, Spatial transcriptomics data analyses.

The Microbiome Research Laboratory (MRL) is a core facility that provides services for basic and clinical researchers aiming to characterize communities of microorganisms from a variety of sources. We can analyze microbial samples collected from human, mouse, or other organisms, and from a variety of different body sites. The MRL harnesses the power of next generation sequencing technology to profile microbial genomes.  The goal of the Microbiome Research Lab (MRL) is to support basic and translational researchers who wish to use microbial metagenomics in their research activities.

Primary duties will include:

• Quality control assessment and analysis of high-throughput multi-dimensional omics data 
• Communicate and work with diverse community of core customers including graduate students, postdocs and faculty
• Primary duties to set-up and run RNAseq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Single cell Seq and spatial transcriptomics data analysis pipelines for core services.
• Manage core data storage and data delivery to customers
• Data submission to SRA, PUBMED etc.
• Updating the workflows 
• Presenting data to core customers upon completion of the project
• Meet with Director and provide data analysis updates on projects
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

Ph. D or M.S. degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computational Biology or a related discipline.

Preferred Skills

• 2 or more years of experience with scientific programming languages
• 2-3 years of experience of working on multi-omics datasets, preferably in a research environment
• Published evidence of genomics an transcriptomics data analyses capability
• Strong proficiency in R programming, scripting for bioinformatics workflows
