Work from home (WFH): This is a work from home position estimated at 90%. However, candidates must live in the State of Texas, DFW area candidates are preferred. Additional details shall be discussed as part of the interview process.
The Ophthalmology Department team has a new opportunity available for the role of Supervisor, Reimbursement. The ideal applicant will have experience in Ophthalmology as well as included but not limited to the following:
- Supervise up to ten (10) direct reports (billers/coders)
- Insurance verification
- Obtaining authorizations
- Obtaining referrals
- Training with direct reports, CSA's, etc.
Cases will include:
- Cornea
- Glaucoma
- Retina
- Neuro
- Plastics
- Ophthalmology

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED,
- Seven (7) years experience in physician practice plan, healthcare, or medical insurance environment.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience,
- And previous exposure to hospital or physician billing are required.
- Certified as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Advanced Records Technician (ART), or Registered Records Administrator (RRA) preferred.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provides assistance and training to staff on coding, compliance and billing issues.
- Acquires and maintains thorough knowledge of federal and state legislative and administrative action affecting physician reimbursement; disseminates acquired knowledge to faculty and staff.
- Serves as a backup to Revenue Cycle Manager on Edit Admin. Committee to approve and advise edit requests for university.
- Maintains coding edits for division to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Supervises daily operation of departmental billing activities.
- Analyzes all departmental monthly denial reports; reviews for proper coding, unbundling, concurrent care, modifiers and compliance to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
