The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is pleased to announce the next phase of our Semiconductors Cluster hiring initiative with up to three open positions in the College of Engineering. We are seeking outstanding tenure-track/tenured Assistant/Associate Professors whose scholarship involves semiconductor manufacturing and electronics packaging areas.Areas of special interest include, but are not limited to:(1) 3D Heterogeneous integration (3DHI): electronic and photonic interconnect technologies, multi-functional heterogeneous integration, chip-scale micro- and nano-systems, heterogeneous integration platforms including 2.5D and 3D.(2) Photonic integrated circuits (PIC): all areas of semiconductor photonics research related to integrated photonics, chip scale integration architecture, photonic and electronic co-design, inverse design, novel semiconductor devices, optoelectronics, and nanophotonics.(3) Semiconductor manufacturing process (Manufacturing): scale-up nanoscale manufacturing, process control, high throughput manufacturing, as well as other subtopics.(4) Chip packaging and thermal management (Packaging):Thermal management and reliability technologies for 2.5D and 3D Heterogeneous Integrated (HI) devices focusing on heat dissipation and enhanced cooling such as single- and two-phase cold plate and immersion cooling, and the development of robust mechanical and thermal reliability testing methodologies.However, all areas with the potential to significantly advance the field of advanced semiconductor technologies will be considered.Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in engineering, science or a related discipline appropriate to the research focus of the cluster. The appointment will be in any relevant department in the College of Engineering (CoE) based on the candidates’ background. Applicants must show exceptional promise for high-quality research, teaching, professional development, and the ability to build extramurally funded research programs. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives.The appointments are expected to commence September 1, 2025 for the start of the Fall 2025 semester.
