The UTBS Academy team is looking for a Special Educator who understands our client dynamic, and can collaborate with our team of professionals to create a safe and stable learning environment for those who are unable to attend traditional school. This role is all about staying patiently driven and trailblazing new and adaptive approaches to real world education.

This position requires a revolutionary approach to integrated special education and behavioral health care. Creative adaptability, and investigative pathfinding are necessary sidekicks. What Winning Looks Like:

  • Strengthening clients by creating Individual Academic Plans (IAP).
  • Planning, organizing, and instructing clients in group and individualized settings.
  • Providing push-in specialized instruction and intervention while students receive the behavioral health treatment they need to participate successfully.
  • Communicating and collaborating with parents, school teams, and other professionals and providing additional support and advocacy as needed.
  • Attending company training to further improve personal and professional development.
  • Producing curriculum and providing programming consulting to team members.
  • Administering yearly standardized assessments.

Requirements:

  • License in Special Education is preferred and compensated accordingly. Severe Endorsement is highly preferred. OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree (3 years of teaching experience in a public or private school will also be considered). OR
  • RBT certification or higher (we provide paid training for this).
  • Special Education experience.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Maintain confidentiality about the clients, families, staff, and any other protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA.

Physical Requirements:

Accordingly, the special education teacher must meet the following additional requirements:

  • Strength and Mobility Requirements:
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, grasping, reaching, bending
  • Vision Requirements:
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Distant vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or the left or right while eyes are fixed on a given point
  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships)

Acknowledgment:

  • UTBS offers programs, such as the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) that allow us to invest in our professional team members. This investmentrequires a commitment from the employees to work a certain amount of time in exchange for the financial assistance they receive, as specifically stated inthe documents to be executed if tuition assistance is provided.
  • UTBS holds professionals to the ethical standards of their fields. Unless otherwise agreed by the management of the Company, the employmentagreements also include complying with reasonable noncompetition, non-solicitation, confidentiality, and non-disparagement provisions set forth inthe employment agreements.
  • UTBS is governed by multiple sets of rules and requirements, including those from the state of Utah, private insurance carriers, federal programs such asMedicaid, Tricare, etc. Therefore, it is imperative for Revenue Cycle Manager to understand and follow our company policies and procedures, since these are developed to serve as the highest standard that meets all requirements across all governing bodies.

Employee Conduct Clause/Policy Addendum

All employees represent UTBS while acting within the scope of employment. It is essential that employees’ conduct and speech represent and embody the values and purposes of UTBS. Therefore, any expression of personal opinions, feelings, viewpoints, mindsets, beliefs, attitudes, ideals, etc., whether political, social, or spiritual, while acting within the scope of employment is improper conduct that may lead to discipline up to and including termination. Employees waive their right to free speech while acting in the scope of employment for UTBS.

UTBS focuses on providing services to meet the needs of its clients. Its Vision Statement is: “To empower all families to build their joy as a family.” That Vision Statement is meant to also apply to the UTBS employees’ families, and the “UTBS family” (the Employee and other staff members). Accordingly, all employees represent UTBS while acting within the scope of employment. It is essential that Employee’s conduct and speech represent and embody the values and purposes of UTBS. Therefore, any expression of personal opinions, feelings, viewpoints, mindsets, beliefs, attitudes, ideals, etc. that can be reasonably expected to be derogatory, demeaning, disrespectful, or divisive to clients, their parents or other caregivers, or to fellow employees whether political, social, or spiritual while acting within the scope of employment is improper conduct that may lead to discipline up to and including separation. In accordance with Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act (“NLRA”), Employee is not prohibited from discussing workplace conditions with other employees if the purpose is to cause improvement to those workplace conditions. Employee is not allowed to simply air personal grievances which can simply cause dissension, division, and a negative environment. If Employee has a personal grievance, he or she is encouraged to take concerns to the Employee’s supervisor in order to maintain a positive workplace environment, to promptly correct any errors or misunderstandings, and to allow Employee, and other employees to provide quality services to UTBS’s clients and/or their families.
