Patient Advocate, CC
- Non Exempt –Full Time (32-40 hours per week)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Acts as a liaison between the patient, billing and clinic staff. Orients new patients and resolves patient problems. Arranges for financial assistance for patients in need.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Educates patients on services, insurance, etc.
- Gathers new patient information.
- Verifies patient insurance information and inputs same into PMS System. Identifies insurance problems before patient is seen.
- Identifies patients needing referrals and receives authorization before service is given.
- Understands and maintains prior authorization submission and approval for ongoing treatment
- Follows up on phone calls from billing office and resolves billing issues.
- Arranges for indigent coverage and drug replacement coverage as needed
- Meets with any patients owing a patient balance before they are seen by a physician.
- Sets up patient payment plans.
- Attends meetings as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Two to three years working in a medical office setting. Front office and/or billing experience required.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma required.
Some College preferred
