YOUR LIFE AS A MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
The Marketing and Communications Specialist will support Utah Community Action in developing, executing, and monitoring marketing and communications strategies, working closely with the Chief Impact Strategy Officer as part of the development team. This position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive communication and public relations plans that encourage employees, clients, volunteers, funders, and partners to promote the work of Utah Community Action. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will be responsible for internal and external communications.
Specific duties will include:
- Developing and maintaining current website content
- Managing all social media
- Maintaining all agency publications, including Annual Reports and Community Needs Assessments
- Developing and managing media relationships, including regular outreach and press releases
- Writing critical internal and external publications and newsletters
- Gathering stories and photos that document the work of Utah Community Action
- Create event material, including online promotions, invitations, programs, etc.
- Developing multimedia presentations for internal and external events
- Maintain and strengthen UCA branding materials
- Support community awareness, client outreach, volunteers, and government partners
COMPETENCIES FOR A MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
- Superior writing, editing, verbal, and listening skills
- Strong time-management and organization skills
- Graphic design and video editing skills (i.e., Adobe Suite and InDesign)
- Good attendance
- Ability to take direction and converse in English
- A Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communication, Marketing, or a related field required.
- Demonstrated ability to write strategic communication pieces.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in public relations and communications required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 to 3 years of experience in nonprofits
- Bilingual Spanish/English
