The Utah County Sheriff’s Department is the law enforcement agency in the county and is responsible for the preservation of the peace. The Sheriff and deputies make arrests, oversees the courts and the County Correctional Facility, and prepare legal documents for Sheriff’s sale.

POSITION: Battalion Chief-Wildland Fire

The Opportunity: Under the general direction of the County Fire Chief, coordinates and directs field operations for Utah County Fire and is responsible for personnel involved in wildland fire suppression and related activities. This position serves as an assistant to the County Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief.
Starting Pay: Grade 725 Step A - $32.14 – Step G - $36.96 Hourly
Job Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Four (4) years of work experience in professional wildland fire suppression, including two (2) years as a squad leader or in another related supervisory position.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Preference may be given to applicants who have successfully completed advanced training and requirements in wildland fire suppression tactics.
2. Preference may be given to applicants with Type 4 Incident Command certification under the NIIMS incident command system.
