Job Description
UTAH STATE LIBRARY : The Utah State Library seeks a detail-oriented, innovative and creative Data Coordinator who collects, organizes, analyzes and utilizes data to support Utah public libraries and the USL’s mission. Join our mission-driven, forward-thinking, passionate team. Principle Duties
- Data Collection and ManagementAssist in the collection and evaluation of the Recertification Survey and Quality Library Designation Applications.Design the collection, organization, and tracking of both qualitative and quantitative data from primary and secondary sources to measure impact of the Library in the community and reporting related to our collective impact, mission, vision, collections, etc.Design, organize, and maintain dashboards so that they can be used effectively by administrators, managers and staff following best practices.Administer the statistical annual report for Utah’s public libraries and the bi-yearly State Library Administrative Agency report and submit the data collections to IMLS.
- Data ReportingPresent statistical analyses using a variety of story-telling methods designed to support mission and vision and to inform management decisions.Coordinate annual State Library statistics reporting.Help prepare an annual report.Develop and present data related to key performance indicators for teams across the Library.Collaborate with the management and leadership teams to standardize how and when data is reported to staff, the board, and the community.Produce a variety of reports using Word, Excel, and other resources.State Library's Statistical Annual Report of Public Library ServicesPublic Library Survey (PLS) for IMLS / AIRState Library Administrative Agency Survey (SLAA) for IMLS / RTI
- Data Interpretation and StorytellingCreate visualizations and narratives to explain data to staff, customers, and the board.Collaborate to understand knowledge gaps and use data to provide valuable insight.
- Library Development Program Team MemberProvide consulting services to public library directors and staff in person, via email and phone. Train and support colleagues. Collaborate and work on other statewide initiatives of the Library Development team.Collaborate, communicate, and coach to make data accessible to many populations.Advise and assist in the development of performance metrics for new projects and initiatives.Work with the management team to develop appropriate mechanisms to evaluate library programs, services, processes, and other allocations of resources to ensure efficiency and alignment with the Library’s mission.Some travel in state and out of state is needed, about 5%-10% of time.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid / flexible work schedule after in-office training during the first few months of employment . Our office is located at 250 N 1950 W, Salt Lake City, UT. A position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason. Note : Under Administrative Rule R13-4 all work must be performed within the State of Utah. As such employees should either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.
