Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our new Oculus Surgical Center. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly sterilized and maintained to meet strict health and safety standards. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and sterile processing protocols. Previous experience in Ophthalmology preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate that fits our patient experience requirements.
Duties
- Perform sterilization of surgical instruments and medical devices using appropriate methods such as steam, ethylene oxide, or hydrogen peroxide gas plasma.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any malfunctions or necessary repairs.
- Implement quality control measures to monitor the effectiveness of sterilization procedures.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking supplies and materials needed for sterilization processes.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to understand specific sterilization needs for various procedures.
- Follow established protocols for the safe handling and disposal of contaminated materials.
Experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology is essential for understanding instructions and documentation related to sterilization processes.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and sterile processing is required to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Understanding of anatomy and physiology is beneficial for recognizing the specific requirements related to different types of surgical instruments.
