The Receiving Associate is responsible for receiving food donations and products into the warehouse.
Duties:
- Receiving – Load and unload semi-trailers
- Verify agency invoice against product (noting any discrepancies) and assist in loading product into vehicle
- Assist in down stacking pallets that are too tall or too heavy for racking
- Assist with agency return orders
- Keep docks and warehouse area clean and organized by sweeping, mopping and disposing of bad product
- Organize, consolidate and dispose of bad product; help rotate product first-in-first-out
- Maintain all warehouse equipment
- Process Commercial receipting; via fax to verify receiving, quantities and date to commercial donors
- Assist with filing and other clerical tasks as workload permits
- Responsible for complete and accurate paperwork required by Feeding America
- Participate in major food drives/events
- Assist on East Dock, as needed
- Assist in documenting procedures and research/resolve inventory problems
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school or GED completion
- High degree of accuracy with physical product, cycle counts and paperwork
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Warehouse skills/experience required
- Forklift certified or ability to become forklift certified (in-house training and certification)
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Health, Safety and OSHA requirements
- Computer skills required including experience with Excel, Word & Outlook
- Ability to work and communicate in a courteous and professional manner with staff, volunteers and donors
- High professional and ethical standards
Physical Requirements:
The work requires considerable strenuous physical exertion such as lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and to 75 pounds some of the time, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, pushing and/or pulling heavy loads, operating and working around equipment such as shrink-wrap machine, forklifts and pallet jacks. Mandatory 4 to 6 work weekends. High attendance expectations. During peak seasons, all UFB staff may be asked to assist with receiving donations, picking up donations or other customer service work outside the normal scope of duties.
