The Part-time Pantry Coordinator is responsible for working in coordination with the Pantry Specialist and Distribution Center Director to run the daily operation of the Food Pantry location, in accordance with Feeding America, USDA and UFB standards.
DUTIES:
- Work with Pantry Specialist and Distribution Center Director regarding pantry issues, concerns, and questions
- Ensure pantry runs smoothly and that guidelines are being followed between clients, volunteers, and staff
- Coordinate with warehouse and inventory for available product to distribute; refine amounts needed especially perishable products
- Maximize and manage volunteers at pantry location, including cleaning, stocking, and assisting clients
- Ensure all USDA client civil rights guidelines are followed and civil rights complaints are documented in accordance with USDA rules
- Ensure all food safety guidelines are followed, and product is rotated to maximize freshness
- Obtain client records, ensure they are stored securely, maintaining client confidentiality
- Ensure all required signage is properly posted
- Accept any incoming donations and follow in-take procedures, either food or monetary; acknowledge and thank donors
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls
- Follow all recall procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of client and storage areas using a routine cleaning schedule
- Ensure food is distributed in an equitable manner based on family size per UFB pantry policies
- Provide pantry reports to the Pantry Specialist and Distribution Center Director as requested
- Attend meetings and community events as directed
- Troubleshoot pantry issues
- Intentionally promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to build a positive work culture and environment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years directly related experience dealing with clients/customers in social service setting
- Able to work with diverse groups and individuals in a friendly but firm manner
- Able to work independently and as a team member
- Must be able to plan, direct and complete complex tasks
- Strong organization skills and excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing
- Good customer service skills; excellent leadership and conflict-resolution skills
- Intermediate computer skills with database and spreadsheet programs
- Able to relate to clients, agency staff, donors and the community at large in a positive manner
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (MVR required prior to hire)
- High positive energy level and high standards of professional ethics and conduct
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work involves moderate physical exertion including standing, walking, recurring bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting of moderately heavy items. Candidates should be able to lift 25 to 50 lbs. on a regular basis as needed. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, goggles, and gloves when working with food. During peak seasons, all UFB staff may be asked to assist with receiving donations, picking up donations or other customer service work outside the normal scope of duties.
