Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drawing blood samples from patients for medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research. This role plays a crucial part in the healthcare system by ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to obtain blood samples
- Label vials with patient names and dates
- Organize and send specimens to the laboratory for testing
- Follow aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Interact with patients in a professional and caring manner during blood sampling
- Monitor patient vital signs before, during, and after blood collection
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy area
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques for blood sampling
- Familiarity with clinical laboratory procedures
- Ability to perform specimen collection processing accurately
- Strong patient care skills and ability to interact compassionately with patients
