Description
The Dental Hygienist plays a key role in delivering high-quality oral health care. This position is responsible for providing preventative dental services, promoting oral health education, and supporting the dental team in delivering comprehensive care.
Role and Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, periodontal scaling, and root planning
- Conduct oral health assessments and screenings
- Take, process, and interpret dental X-rays
- Adhere to infection control standards and OSHA regulations
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, diet, and tobacco cessation
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Collaborate with dentists and medical providers to support integrated care
Other Duties as Assigned
- Provide outreach and oral health education to schools and community groups as needed
Requirements
- Graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)-accredited Dental Hygiene program
- Licensed Dental Hygienist in good standing with the state of Utah
- Valid CPR/BLS certification
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dental hygiene, preferred
- Experience working with underserved or diverse populations preferred
Skill & Competencies
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based care setting
- Strong communication and patient engagement skills
