You will be responsible for managing timelines, budgets, and resources while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team. Key Responsibilities:
- Leads a multidisciplinary team of Scientists and Researchers in quantum physics and photonics
- Converts technical and mission needs of AFRL customer into project scope and requirements
- Develops and oversees project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines
- Coordinates research activities, allocates resources, and manages budgets effectively
- Facilitates collaboration among team members and with external customers
- Monitors progress and provides regular updates to senior leadership and customers
- Promotes a culture of scientific excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement
- Contributes directly to one or more research projects
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Quantum Science, Photonics, or a related field
- Proven experience in project or program management, preferably in a scientific or research environment
- Understanding of AMO/quantum/photonics principles and current trends
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Substantial experience with direct customer interactions and embedded teams
- Working knowledge of Department of Defense contracting structures and vocabulary
- Working knowledge of Agile/Lean/DevOps management approaches and tools
- Direct laboratory environment experience
