What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refugee Driver (Volunteer) position at Utah Valley Refugees?
We are seeking a compassionate and organized individuals to play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of refugees to their intended destinations. The ideal candidate will have strong logistical and communication skills, with a commitment to providing support to vulnerable populations. This position involves coordinating transportation services, collaborating with community partners, and addressing the unique needs of refugees during their resettlement journey. Drivers will help provide rides to clients of Utah Valley Refugees on an as needed basis. Needs may include rides to and from English classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings (5 PM to 7 PM) as well as Saturday (9 AM to 12 PM), rides to doctor's appointment, job interviews, and the grocery store, during the week day etc.
Qualifications :
- Previous experience in refugee services, transportation coordination, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and logistical planning skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Sensitivity to the unique challenges faced by refugees and a commitment to providing culturally competent support.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and procedures related to refugee transportation.
- Proficiency in relevant languages (Spanish, Farsi / Dari, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Swahili, or Ukrainian) is a plus.
