Position Summary/Objective

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Principal Engineer – Sealing Solutions to support our growing presence in the industry. This role will serve as a subject matter expert and provide technical leadership, customer engagement, and industry representation in the development and application of high-performance sealing solutions.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in seal design, elastomers, fluoropolymers, thermoplastics, and composite materials, along with knowledge of key industry standards such as ISO 23936, NORSOK M-710, and API 6A. A strong customer-facing presence, including lunch-and-learns, technical training, and participation in key industry committees, is essential.

Essential Functions

Technical Expertise & Customer Engagement:

• Act as a subject matter expert in sealing solutions for upstream oil & gas applications.
• Provide technical support and training to customers through lunch-and-learns, on-site visits, and virtual presentations.
• Work closely with sales and business development teams to develop tailored solutions for high-performance sealing applications in HPHT conditions.
  
  

Industry Representation & Thought Leadership

• Represent the company at key technical committees (API, NORSOK, ISO, ASME, ASTM, SAE, etc.).
• -Stay ahead of regulatory requirements, industry trends, and technological advancements affecting seals, thermoplastics, elastomers, and composite materials.
• Publish technical papers, white papers, and case studies to reinforce the company’s position as an industry leader.
  
  

Product Development & Engineering Support

• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and application engineering teams to develop next generation sealing solutions.
• Guide material selection and validation for demanding oil & gas applications, ensuring compliance with ISO 23936, NORSOK M-710, and API 6A.
• Conduct failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and reliability.
  
  

Required Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
• 15 years of experience in seal design, material science, or applications engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of elastomers, PTFE, thermoplastics, and composite materials used in demanding sealing applications.
• Expertise in ISO 23936, NORSOK M-710, API 6A, and other industry standards and their application to sealing solutions.
• Strong customer-facing experience, including technical sales support, training, and public speaking engagements.
• Active participation in industry committees (API, ISO, ASME, ASTM, SAE, etc.) is highly preferred.
  
  

Key Skills

• Sealing design expertise for oil & gas and other industrial applications.
• Strong knowledge of thermoplastics, elastomers, fluoropolymers, and composite materials.
• Familiarity with HPHT equipment, pressure pumping, drilling tools, completion equipment, and valves.
• Deep understanding of ISO 23936, NORSOK M-710, and API 6A compliance.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical advocacy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for failure analysis and performance optimization.
• Ability to travel (up to 30%) for customer visits, industry events, and committee meetings.
  
  

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday.
