We are looking for a Full-Time Research Assistant I to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Brownsville, TX. In this position, you will conduct activities to support research projects. This position will work closely with the Brownsville Research Unit, Cameron County Hispanic Cohort, and nested studies.

Position Key Accountabilities:
- Patient recruiting and screening, checking and documenting vital signs, performing interviews at the Clinical Research Unit and the participant’s home, traditional laboratory experiments and activities, process specimens, informatics, field interviewer recruiting, screening and training, and/or laboratories.
- Maintains adequate lab supplies inventory to ensure timely lab and clinical activities achievement.
- Collects research data, maintains accurate records to include, information, and databases, corrects data discrepancies, etc. as needed by the research project.
- Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for the research department.
- Monitors laboratory and/or other supplies to ensure sufficient inventory to support research projects. Ensures quality and expiration date of tubes and other supplies.
- As needed, help with the work at the laboratory, support staff, and other assistants to ensure efficient, timely, and high-quality results. Answers questions or resolves problems regarding routine or more complex duties.
- Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
- May participate in continuing education programs, workshops, training, and seminars.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- General knowledge of research fields.
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
- No years of experience is required, but previous experience working on research projects is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
