Physician Assistant for Pediatric Neurosurgery

UTHealth McGovern Medical School Department of Pediatric Surgery, Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery, seeks a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our nationally ranked Pediatric Neurosurgery Team. This role will work with our team of Pediatric Neurosurgical PAs and Pediatric Neurosurgeons to treat children at our Level 1 Trauma facility based at Children’s Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center. Each year, our team performs hundreds of procedures on infants and children with complex neurosurgical problems. Must be willing to work occasional weekends, holidays (compensation provided), and occasional overtime (compensation provided). Previous experience in a surgical and / or pediatric specialty is preferred but not required.

Position Summary :

Provides advanced medical care to patients, in a surgical setting, in one or more specialized surgical areas under the direction of a surgeon.

Position Key Accountabilities :

Certification / Skills :

Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant

Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants

Needs BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications / requirements.

Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment required by work.

Minimum Education :

Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant. A Bachelor’s degree as a Physician Assistant with at least two years of professional experience in the role is acceptable based on terminal degree requirements at the time of graduation.

Minimum Experience :

None; previous experience in a surgical specialty preferred.

Physical Requirements :

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 20 pounds frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
